Ecotourism

Leave only your footprints in the sand

Visit the most biologically intense place on Earth, where you can see the wonders of Costa Rica and save the planet in one trip

Anchor 1

Ecotourism is one of the most sought after and satisfying travel experiences. It is, in its essence, the shared responsibility between a country’s local population and its visitors to treat the environment with the mindfulness of preserving the country’s natural environment and natural heritage. Costa Rica is a pioneer of ecotourism and sustainable living and has become a global model to preserve and maintain local natural resources.

Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. It accounts for approximately .03% of the earth’s surface and yet holds over 6% of the world’s biodiversity. In its 20,000 sq. miles, the country has 160 protected areas of which are 25% protected, has 12 ecosystems, has 4% of species and 3.5 % of marine life.

There are 27 nature parks, 8 biological reserves, 32 protected zones, 11 forest reserves, 58 wildlife refuges, 15 wetlands in Costa Rica, which are home to 850 bird species, 237 mammal species, 1,260 tree species, 1,200 orchid species, and 361 reptile and amphibian species. The country produces nearly 93% of its electricity from renewable resources and 30 percent of its territory is protected natural land. Not bad for such a small expanse of land.

While Costa Rica is a wonderland of natural beauty, with its lush landscape, wild and marine life, and almost always perfect weather, you can swing across the greenest of jungles, hike a live volcano, surf and stroll some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and lay back and enjoy life. There is a reason Costa Rica is at the top of place to spend your time. It is a site to be seen.

Try This

Love the animals

Embrace the jungle
A true ecotourism adventure, zipline through the rainforests, hike along the winding trails, take a dip in a waterfall pool and sleep in an ecolodge treehouse. You’ll understand why the monkeys stay for life.

Live like a Costa Rican
Live a day in a local community to experience the Blue Zone lifestyle that leads to one of the longest lifespans on the planets. It is only one of the five places on earth to learn the life first hand
